Calling all book lovers! To make things a bit more interesting than the usual bookclub fare, I’ve decided to do a celebrity book club and a woman in tech book club this year. At first the Celebrity Memoir Club was going to be a mixed gender bag, but upon deciding January’s book (Hedy Lamarr’s “Ecstasy and Me“), I realized that there are far too many interesting females who have occupied the music and film space.

So January’s book will be on Hedy Lamar. Feel free to join us on January 27th at 6:30pm at Trie. Hedy will be both the first book of the Memoir Club and the first of Women in Tech. I had planned the Memoir Club initially, but women in tech books have been filling up my shelves, and I thought why not have another? While they are one for January they will make like a Git branch and separate in February.

In February the Memoir Club will be covering Jeanette McCurdy’s “I’m Glad My Mom Died“. Event to be announced. The Women in Tech Bookclub will be reading Susan Fowler’s “Whistleblower: My Unlikely Journey to Silicon Valley and Fight For Justice at Uber” and meeting on February 4th at 2pm (same location unless a cozier place is found). I started Susan Fowler’s book and I just have to say her story is nothing short of amazing. You will not be disappointed.

For the Celebrity books we will be discussing Patti Smith, Diane Keaton, Anne Heche, Patti Boyd, Kristen Johnson, Demi Moore, and Carrie Fisher. The Women in Tech Club will be covering Ellen Pao, Ava Lovelace, Grace Hopper, Sheryl Sandberg, and other women past and present.

If anyone is interested in joining please feel free to RSVP to the events on either Facebook or Meetup. Can’t wait to see you there!
